Just finished watching the Kuroshitsuji dub on Netflix. Tons of fun, but I have to admit the anime does upset me. Even though it was made by the wonderful team that made the first adaption of Full Metal Alchemist and the animation was beautiful and extremely well-done, once the storyline deviated from Yana Toboso’s manga, I started frowning despite myself. Ash, Angela, and then season two, which was purely it’s own story in itself.
Though, I admit, Alois was an interesting little case. The parallel between Sebastian and Ciel in comparion to Claude and Alois was interesting- you really see this accentuated difference between the two children who suffered a similar past and were both extremely abused and mistreated. I appreciated that, actually. Alois was sometimes annoying and super promiscuous (thus the short-shorts and thigh highs?), but was secretly extremely sadistic and dependent on Claude, who showed little to no affection for the boy. He just kinda let him do his thing and behaved like a transparent tool to tickle his fancy until he grew bored. In comparison, Ciel is cold and driven by revenge, but internally is fragile and painfully aware of his flaws and, sometimes, caring to the few people who are not killed off from his side. Sebastian in turn serves him faithfully and with a mock-smile, always making light of him but oddly enough sometimes showing sincere concern and protection for his master.
I guess I like this picture alot to sum up the second season for me- Alois is dancing to his little salsa ways, Claude is stiff but consenting. Sebastian and Ciel, instead; Ciel is falling off the very edge and looks distraught, but Sebastian is holding on to him and with that smile, you can’t help but wonder if he’ll pull him up in the nick of time or let him fall away a bit, for the sake of letting him propel into despair. Hurm.
Ah, Yana Toboso, you’re artistic talent astounds me~

I have so many OVAs I want to watch of Kuroshitsuji, but they’re practically impossible to find online! -sob- Sebastian withdrawal affects, they’re a terrible thing. Anyways, since I mentioned that Code Geass was my love sophomore year, I’ll go on to say Bleach was my focus Junior year and now Kuroshitsuji is the object of my obsession now that I’m a senior. It seems I don’t watch that much anime or read that much manga, but when I do I get quite hooked lol
